PUBLIC SERVICE
EXPERIENCE FROM THE FIELD
Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue has given me a firsthand view of what it takes to respond when people need help. Members train regularly, work within a coordinated response, and rely on one another in challenging terrain and uncertain conditions.
I serve as a rescue member and contribute to public information, public education, and outreach. This work has strengthened my understanding that goes being planning and supporting our first responders.

Montecito Fire Protection District
Serving on the Board of Directors of the Montecito Fire Protection District, helping provide responsible governance and oversight in support of the District's mission to protect our community.
Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue
An active rescue member responding to emergency calls throughout Santa Barbara County, including trail rescues alongside Montecito Fire firefighters. In addition to field response, serving the team through public information, public education, outreach, and organizational leadership.
Coast Village Improvement District
Board member since 2018, working with local business owners and community leaders on issues affecting the Coast Village Road business district. Board service focuses on business needs, neighborhood concerns, and coordination with community partners.
U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary
Ten years of volunteer service with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, including three years as Flotilla Commander, supporting maritime safety, preparedness, and public service.
Community Leadership
Longstanding involvement in the community through service on local boards and organizations, including the Cold Spring School Foundation and Knowlwood Tennis Club.
MONTECITO INN
Director of Sales & Marketing for my family business, with experience in budgeting, strategic planning, contracts, communications, and day-to-day operations.
2011 - 2021 | COAST GUARD SERVICE
TEN YEARS ON THE WATER
My decade with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary taught me the value of training, coordination, and steady leadership. For three years as flotilla commander, I helped organize fellow volunteers and support our readiness to serve.
It was an early chapter in my commitment to public service and gave me practical experience working alongside people with different skills toward a shared mission.
HOW I PUT THAT EXPERIENCE TO WORK
OPERATIONAL PERSPECTIVE
Responding with Search & Rescue has taught me that readiness is built through practice, clear responsibilities, and reliable resources. It also means understanding the limits of a volunteer role and respecting the expertise of the Fire District’s professional staff.
FINANCIAL JUDGEMENT
Running a local business requires balancing immediate needs with long-term obligations. On the Board, I apply that discipline when reviewing budgets, pension funding, facilities, and other commitments that shape the District’s future.
COMMUNITY CONNECTION
My work on local boards keeps me in conversation with residents, businesses, families, and volunteers. I believe those perspectives help a director ask better questions and explain decisions more clearly.
